Twi'lek Jedi

Description

This is my 8-hour Twi'lek jedi costume.

I made the patterns for the jedi clothing, lekku, headband, and gloves from scratch.

The belt was made with a Tandy 2" belt blank and a 3/4" leather strip, some sam browne studs, a handful of rivets, and a plastic snap buckle which was painted with acrylic paint (I will be remaking the smaller belt piece with a new buckle spraypainted with silver metallic paint to match the rivets and studs).

The headband and belt are leather, dyed with Acorn Brown Eco-Flo (leather dye and finish in one) from Tandy.

Clothing was made with cheap-o cotton blends and muslin (eventually I plan to remake it all in gauze and linen).

The lekku (head tails) are made from a synthetic stretch fabric, contain polyester fiberfill and rice, and are not recommended to be worn for more than a couple hours. These are not terribly light and the pressure on your head from the headband causes headaches (I will be casting a version of these in latex in the future).

The makeup is a combination of Ben Nye Turquoise and Blue cream foundation - to match the fabric used for the lekku.

Everything was sewn on my Viking Platinum770 machine.

The only things I did not make are my pants (I used some khakis I had around) and my brown leather winter boots (not pictured).

I did not end up with enough time to make a light saber.. that will be a project for the future. :)
